Directions
- Bring a Pot of water to a rolling boil. Never crowd the eggs, so use a pot large enough to cover all the eggs with water and have some room between the eggs
- Slowly and gently lower the eggs into the boiling water.
- Boil on high for 30 seconds then turn the burner to low to simmer the eggs.
- Cover the pot with a lid and wait 13 minutes.
- Drain the water and run cold water over the eggs while in the pot and Add ice to the pot OR Alternatively, immediately transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water which you can prepare while the eggs are cooking
- Leave eggs in the ice water for 15 minutes
- Store eggs in their peel for up to 7 days in zip lock type bag or air tight container. The smell they have is normal and resembles sulfur.
- To Peel: gently tap the egg at the larger end of the egg first. Then tap the smaller end . Then tap all around to gently crack the shell. Then Peel!
Some people take the egg and put it in a zip lock type bag with some water in the bag. Seal it and tap the egg all around. The water gets between the shell and the egg and make peeling easy.
Try it both ways and decide which you like.
Hard boiled eggs can be used for snacks, added to salads, made into deviled eggs, egg salad sandwiches and more.
